4 Generations of Love

Surrounded by my moms, grandmas Tracey and Fleg, and great grandma Mae! I am a very lucky boy, with strong women who have led the way for me!

Showin' off my tongue

A baby knows that when we emerge come from spirit world, we only give the gift of letting the humans see our eyes a few times a day...here was one of those moments of day 4 of life.

Proud grandma, rocking me to sleep

Look at me, pretending to be asleep...she fell for the ole' "eyes closed" trick!

Bah'Hozhooni = The Happy One (in Dine')

...and who could be happier than to have the wise, caring arms of your great grandmother around you in the first days of life. This is my Grandma Mae Yazzie, whose lineage I will carry through the matrilineal Dine' (Navajo) clan system. When I introduce myself in Dine' I will say that I am Zuni Edgewater (maternal grandmother's first clan), born for German (paternal grandmother's first clan).

Bah'Hozhooni enters world into sister's arms

For all my fans - I was born March 31st, 2011 at 12:19pm at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque NM. 7lbs, 3oz, and measuring 19 inches (though I think the nurses might have shorted me a bit on this front). Oh yeah, I am a boy, which was correctly guessed by most of the folks who gave their 2 cents on the issue over the last months My sister Nizhoni, singing nursery rhymes and saying in her sweetest voice, "Come out new baby" was there for the delivery at UNM. I thought she deserved to be the first to hold me.
